The boys are back in town...... A few shots of the awesome brother-in-laws, nephew-in-laws, and kids playing "speed" at the annual Keyes family reunion. Notice all the "in-law" boys in our family--girls are definitely in the blood. Aren't they the lucky guys to snag a "Keyes" girl :) Actually, we are so lucky to have such great husbands. Meet Sooper-Dooper-Cooper! Because of complications during delivery, this little guy spent a month in NICU. With his fighting spirit, the nurses named him super-duper-cooper! This little family is so grateful to have him healthy and home; their prayers were truly answered. Charlotte can hardly believe all 4 of them are under one roof. So glad to be home from the hospital.....We're so happy for you!!! Love you all.

Although I love and appreciate many former roommates, only 2 do I consider "constant friends." They are people you remember on their birthdays (just forget the last 10 or so that I've forgotten Anj), go out with, and regularly call. Anja is one of these VIFM (very important friend-mates). She is so good about sending birthday and Christmas cards every year, and always takes me out for my birthday. She's a riot to hang-out-with, and truly values our friendship. So, I first met Joy and Kerry twenty years ago--my sophomore year in college. I think they were engaged at the time. I distinctly remember Joy (Anja's sister) fixing dinner for Kerry and putting too much pepper in his spaghetti. Kerry was just happy to eat something and be in her presence I'm sure. Fast forward nineteen years and they have a handsome son headed on a mission to Chile. It's crazy what life brings us. Learn a lesson from Kerry--eat the peppery spaghetti and land an amazing wife and life. What fun to meet up with you two again! You have an adorable family.

I know this adorable family through my friend Anja. They are so sincerely cute with each other. Jodi--nice name by the way--is so down-to-earth, quick to laugh, and lovable. Matt--tall guy--was so "hands-on" with his kids; it was fun to watch him fix their hair and tuck in their shirts for the perfect shot. Courtney--cute-as-heck teen-ager--was so sweet with her little brother and sister; what a huge help to her mom and dad. And the little ones were so natural and genuine in front of the camera. This is a family you just feel lucky to know. They are the nicest, most down-to-earth, fun people ever. Lisa (mom) is one of my favorite people, and Andrew (9-year-old/almost 10) is probably my son Taylor's best friend. Ben (dad) is the funniest Gospel Doctrine teacher ever; you just can't miss his class. You often hear whispers in the hall at church asking who is teaching Gospel Doctrine this week. If the answer is Brother Knowlton, then people stick around. Zac (oldest son) just left on a mission last week--woo hoo! Alex (model looking teenager) is sooo photogenic, and Ethan (middle-child) is so funny. I think you're the reason Taylor wants an older brother. Last Saturday I felt like taking my family skiing, but Theron and Will were sick, and Aubrie said she didn't want to go because it would hurt her legs, so cute little 9-year-old Taylor said he would go with me. It was so much fun to spend the day with him; I don't know how many more years he'll want to be seen with Mom, so I'm grateful for this day!

Last week Walter Wick opened his exhibition at the BYU Museum of Art with a book signing, lecture, cookies milk and jelly beans, and card games. We were lucky to be there and have some "I Spy" books signed. My kids have worn out their books with love.

We celebrated my parents 50th wedding anniversary a few weeks ago in St. George. It was so much fun to see aunts and uncles I haven't seen in 20 some odd years. My uncle Mike flew in from Mexico City, my aunt Marilyn flew in from Colorado, my Navajo exchange sister drove from New Mexico, and my mom's sisters all drove from Idaho and No. Utah. We had a yummy dinner, a memory packed slide show, a newlywed/oldlywed game, and entertainment by some of the grand-kids. It was probably the most enjoyable 50th wedding anniversary I've ever attended-among 2 I think? No really it was so much fun--you can tell by the smiles on faces. Congratulations Mom and Dad!

My son LOVEs to play the piano. It ranks right behind professional football and basketball player on a list of future careers. He recently won the Reflections contest at his school for musical composition and then went on to win an award at the counsel level. WAy to go Taylor!

Can I just say--cutest grandparents and family ever! I love them. Shari was my visiting teaching companion until things got too crazy/busy with her MTC callings. Melanie is just the most creative with-it gal you'll ever meet. We're sad those Wyoming cowboys lasso'd her up. How fun to have everyone together for a few days. Traditions

We spent Thanksgiving in St. George with my family this year. It's so nice to be around all that reminds me of home and "me." I've spent the past 20 years living away from home, so I jump at the chance to be with my family. My kids however were very upset that we wouldn't be making gingerbread houses with the Murphys on Thanksgiving Day Eve, so I told them we would see about introducing this tradition to the Keyes side. My family embraced it, and we spent an hour or 2 in my sister's basement wrestling icing, gingerbread and candy. Thanks for the memories everyone!

I struggle and struggle with finding the time to do photos (the way I want--pursuing it and really doing it well), and being the best mom I can. I love doing photos, but I love my kids more, so I am thinking about putting the business away to pursue my family. I figure they are only little once; I don't want my memories to be clouded with guilt from time spent on the computer. I've taken November and December off and am considering a 1-2 shoot limit per month. For now this feels good, so we'll have to see what next month brings.

I love this family! In fact, I think I have a crush on them. I came home from this shoot wanting to love my kids and husband more. Lori and Gary are soooo good to each other and their kids; I think I need to marry someone from my family (like my niece) into theirs. What's that called "match-making?" Anyway, they would make incredible in-laws. Lori, you're hysterical, and Gary, you're naughty--you KNOW what I'm talking about.....keep your hands off your WIFE!

Okay, so I love to shoot for Lori, because she loves "different," and I'm not afraid to pull out the ol' cross process. Alec, these are the coolest missionary pictures ever; thanks for being such a great model and sport. Chris and Cody, thanks for being the cutest twins around.

BTW, the cool car, until recently, belonged to Jesse James (yes, the one that belongs to Sandra Bullock). Jeff Decker, who so graciously let us use his Hippodrome House, pulled up in it and said he just traded it with Mr. James. I didn't dare touch it or ask to use it, so I told Chris and Cody to "quick" squat in front of it for a fast shot. Jeff, how do you dare own a car like that? I would be afraid someone would breathe on it; absolutely amazing!

Stewart Falls Hiiiiiiike

I know I'm such a sorry blogger. I get so busy with my kids etc... I don't take the time to post very much. So here you go--Each Labor Day we take a traditional family hike. This year we brought along the littlest Murphy--Will, and hiked Stewart Falls above Sundance. First of all this is not an easy little hike, and second of all we didn't anticipate having Will ride on his Daddy's shoulders 2 miles up and 2 miles back. In my defense I TOLD Theron we should leave him at home, but he insisted and therefore he had to put up with a very stiff neck for days. I was probably the best trooper as Theron LOST it at the end (we're still working out marital kinks from this little outburst), Aubrie was a mess the ENTIRE hike (complete with all-out sobbing about how her knees were killing her and she couldn't walk another step), and Taylor biffed it on a rock about 20 feet from the finish line (he was certain to bleed to death). A very dusty and rocky path are a couple drawbacks on this hike (as you can tell from Will's muddied-up mug), but a beautiful waterfall awaits you mid-way and helps you forget the Hell you had to endure to get there. All-in-all it was a memory and I have pictures to prove it! Damn-it!

This family is absolutely hysterical! Arlette (young Grandma) is the most refined, organized, and proper person you'll meet. Bill, her husband, is her polar opposite--no offense Bill. He is witty, funny, and a bit crude at times. I love how he can still make her "melt." They are absolutely in love with each other and their grandkids. After the shoot, (we finished at 8:00) 6 of the 8 adults in this photo ran a half marathon until the wee hours of the morning. Can you get any cooler than that?!

I have a gazillion photos to edit and post after my computer crash hiatus, so I'll start with last weekend. My parents just returned from an LDS mission to Australia and all my brothers and sisters were in St. George to welcome them home, so we just had to get a family shot before we all went our separate ways. I'm so happy to have parents again! You wouldn't think a "nearly- 38-year -old" girl would still need to hear her mother's voice, but it is soooo nice to be able to call her and say hello anytime I want. Welcome home Mom and Dad! We love you! My brother Jeff blessed his baby Lyla this same weekend, so I took a few of her as well.

Major Computer Crash!

Okay, so during Alec's senior photo shoot, his brothers Chris and Cody teased him about being so "GQ," and how glad they weren't having senior pictures done. So, guess what? Saturday we took a five minute drive up Hobble Creek Canyon to enjoy Jolley's Ranch and their sledding hills. Will had a blast riding with Theron on the big sled. Taylor got so hot from running up the hill he went coatless in 30 degree weather.
